One of the great functions of art
is to help us imagine
what it is like to be
not
ourselves,
what it is like
to be someone
or something else,
what it is like to live
in another skin,
what it is like
to live in another body,
and in that sense to surpass ourselves,
to go out beyond ourselves.

I enjoyed hearing this clip, Anthony. Thank you! I am fond of her famous poem, “Diving into the Wreck,” which I am now connecting with your former post about not feeling “chipper.”

Thank you so much. It’s a great poem. I had not made that link to ‘Chipper’, but, yes, it is there. With best wishes, Anthony
